Space Invader reaches Cancun Bay

Invader is not content with bombing the civilised world. Last year he sent one of his mosaics to space and now he's gone the other way - deep into the ocean!

He recently went scuba diving in Cancun Bay, where he found an underwater town. With the help of artist Jason deCaires he stuck Space Invader characters in the sea. How do you think this latest bomb will affect street art walking tours in Cancun?

Do you think Invader is a visionary street artist, or is he just polluting the earth with pieces of quadratic stone?

Invader in Melbourne

(Little Lonsdale St, Melbourne)

Acid Midget is undergoing emotional renovations. As a result, there has been a shortage of new street art and new writing on the site.

Big things have been happening in the Australian street art community this month. About 12,000 people visited Sydney's Cockatoo Island for the opening week of the Outpost Project. It is the largest street art festival to be held in the southern hemisphere.

It's a real landmark in the evolution of street art not only in Australia, but globally. You should check it out before it ends on December 11 (it's also free).

The image above of an Invader mosaic was taken on my last trip to Melbourne. And to think - I thought Melbourne was the street art capital of Australia. I wonder what you guys down there think of Outpost?

Artist: Invader

(Photo: Hargo)

Don't you just love how cool Invader is? Nearly as cool as Mr Brainwash really.

Sweet-ass mosaics glued all over the streets. So cool. Wish the artists behind Underbelly would just convert that abandoned New York subway into a real-life version of Super Mario World or the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video games.

Imagine seeing Anthony Lister pop out of a manhole. OK. Good. Now stop touching yourself.

I'm not sure if this Invader piece was part of the Miami-based open-air gallery Primary Flight, but RJ of Vandalog suggested it was.
