So last week I asked Acid Midget followers on Instagram to describe what this wheatpaste was about. I had no idea who made it or what it depicted (I still don't) when I found it. I also asked fans on Facebook and Twitter.
And as promised, I'm republishing your answers right here.
Instagram
tikicave: Two people laying in bed.
east_clintwood: The tip of a quill pen.
interstellar_medium: Happy stingray with pants pockets.
paulphamtastic: It's a Pokemon character!
Facebook
Juilee Pryor: It's a post modern ghost...
Hibbles TheWizard: I figured it looked like that cocoon thing in Pokemon.
Rotar Uno: KKK mask?
Jenny Bunyon: Yeh! Kakuna i think. Metapod. Crossed with a happy Japanese bear or cat.
Twitter
Mim West: Japanese inspired character from space? I am imagining him aqua blue with green eyebrows.
OK so the jury is in. This weird image appears to be the Pokemon Metapod. Do you agree?
Thanks to everyone who contributed. As you know, I love interacting with fans on social networks just as much as writing this blog. To show my appreciation for all your support...here's some more art!

Darlinghurst street art
(Darlinghurst Rd, Darlinghurst, Sydney)
I found these images in the deep recesses of Acid Midget's photo database. I'm glad I did, because now I can share them with you like it's a bootleg vinyl and you're a Beatles fan.
These are located at Star Car Wash. Its main wall is filled with stencils and posters. However, I think some of these are now gone. The main poster above is by Jumbo and Zap.
But I'm not certain how many of these works are gone. That's because, when I visit Darlinghurst, I usually visit Una's for jager schnitzel and a quiet red. And I would usually say 'I also score sweet drugs in Darlo', but too many respectable people tell me they read this blog and now 'my audience is everything'.
The Sid Vicious stencil on the left is by Numskull. I'm not sure if he did the horn hat man too.
This haunted house is by Mini Graff, who has a house fetish.
Vexta did this sleeping man. At first glance you'd can't be sure whether it's a person or not.

SYDNEY: Jumbo and Zap posters
Jumbo and Zap, I miss you.
You get up in Darlinghurst, Newtown and occasionally Surry Hills. But you never do it enough or stay up long. People like tearing your posters down. Why?
And why does 'graffiti jargon' read like a porn script?
Jumbo, your posters use comic book imagery in an unconventional layout. I like them.
Have you met Slug? If this poster had a couple of 'eye condoms' it would be similar to his work. Just kidding.
Your confidence to paste in a relatively large scale makes you one of my favourite humans who pastes posters on walls in streets.
Zap, you make manic collages that give me a headache on cue. You are talented, you steal my attention.
This is because there is so much imagery in the streets. I bet advertisers will use your mash-up style in approx. 2-4 years to sell brands while you're scraping scabs off your skin in the welfare line.
But I'll always have these images. We'll always have them.
Get up soon.

artists: jumbo and zapp
(Cleveland St, Redfern)
Here's a poster i've passed many times but never made time to hop out of the car to photograph. I finally did and, as you can see, i think it was a good decision.
Jumbo and Zapp have also wheat-pasted in Newtown and Darlinghurst, among other places. They commonly use a large scale to attract attention to their psychedelic, cartoon-inspired posters.
This was pasted on the shopfront wall of a defunct clothing store next to the James Dean Pizza Cafe. The door had a sign stuck to it:
(ibid.)
It's unfortunate, but a piece of street art has generated more interest for me than the shop itself. Miss u GFC.
